How to take the train from Beijing: guidelines

Beijing has four railway stations, three of which are named after the geographical area they serve:

  • Beijing North Station: trains to/from the north and north-west of China. The main destinations are Hohhot, Manzhouli and Badaling, one of the most easily accessible sections of the Chinese Wall from Beijing
  • Beijing Railway Station: the central station that counts Chengde, Dalian, Jinan, Shanghai, Nanjing, Moscow (Russia) and Pyongyang (North Korea) among its destinations
  • Beijing West Station: from here one can reach western China, for example Xian, Chengdu, Urumqi, Lhasa and Guangzhou
  • Beijing South Station: the largest, most modern and crowded station in Beijing from which high-speed trains depart for Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai and Qingdao
