Sunny climate, crystal-clear sea, deep bays that recall the Norwegian fjords and picturesque coastal towns are the main ingredients that have made Montenegro a popular summer destination. Although I visited the coast in winter, I could understand the huge potential for tourism of this region by seeing the Venetian charm of Kotor’s old city (Unesco heritage), luxurious Sveti Stefan and the contrast between the Adriatic Sea’s blue waters and the Dinaric Alps’ rugged mountains.
Apart from the coast, Montenegro boasts countless scenic and cultural beauties that make it much more than just a sea destination. Here is my personal list of places of interest not to be missed:
- OSTROG MONASTERY
- SCUTARI LAKE
